How Pantocid IT Capsule SR 10s works

The two active ingredients in this pharmaceutical preparation are Pantoprazole and Itopride. Pantoprazole reduces gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the proton pump (H+/K+ ATPase) in the stomach. Itorpide improves gastrointestinal motility, antagonizes dopamine D2 receptors, and inhibits the acetylcholinesterase enzyme.

Yes, the use of Pantocid IT can cause dry mouth. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips during the day and keep some water by your bed at night. You may use lip balm if your lips are also dry.

What is the use of Pantocid?

Pantocid tablet reduces the symptom of heartburn, acidity and discomfort in the stomach. It is also used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (a tumour in the pancreas which makes an excess of acid production in the stomach).

Can I take Pantoprazole at night?

Available in capsule and powder form, the 40-mg dose given at bedtime has been shown to be superior to pantoprazole 40 mg given at dinner in control of overnight pH.

What are the serious side effects I can have if I overdose on Pantocid IT?

Serious side effects are rare and can occur if you take a higher than the recommended dose of Pantocid IT. You could have stomach pain that seems to be getting worse (sign of an inflamed liver or pancreas), back pain, fever, pain while peeing or blood in your urine (signs of kidney problems), rash and a slow or irregular heartbeat.

Can we take Pantocid daily?

Usually, Pantocid Tablet is taken once a day, first thing in the morning. If you take Pantocid Tablet twice a day, take 1 dose in the morning and 1 dose in the evening. The tablets should be swallowed whole (remember not be chewed or crushed) and taken at least 1 hour before a meal with some water.

Can Pantocid be taken after food?

Do not chew, crush or break the tablet before you swallow. Pantoprazole can be taken before or after food, although taking it before food is preferable.

Take Pantocid IT exactly as directed by your doctor. It is best to take Pantocid IT with or without food. To prevent heartburn and acid indigestion, take it 30-60 minutes before eating food or drinking beverages that can lead to indigestion. Follow all directions as advised.
