How Embriz 20mg Injection works

It inhibits the proton pump in the stomach lining. Due to this, the production of stomach acid decreases and it gets relieved from peptic ulcers and esophagitis (swelling in the stomach).

  • Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine.
  • Kindly do not self administer.

Special Precautions About Embriz 20mg Injection

  • Do not stop taking it even if you feel better until your doctor tells you to do so.
  • Avoid drinking caffienated beverages like coffee and tea. Do not eat fatty and spicy foods.
  • Do not use this drug for extended duration as it may pose the risk of bone fractures.
  • Taking the medicine for 3 months regularly may develop the symptoms of hypomagnesemia (low levels of magnesium in blood) which may lead to confusion, tiredness, muscle twitches, dizziness, and irregular heartbeat.

Embriz is best taken 1 hour before a meal. You should avoid spicy and fatty foods while taking this medicine. It also helps to cut down on caffeinated drinks such as tea, coffee and cola. Alcohol intake should also be avoided as it may worsen your symptoms.

How long does it take for Embriz to work?

Embriz starts working within an hour of taking it and shows maximum benefit within two to four hours. You should start feeling better within 2 to 3 days but it may take upto 4 weeks to relieve your symptoms significantly.

Can I take antacids along with Embriz?

Yes, you can take antacids along with Embriz. Take it 2 hours before or after you take Embriz.

What is Embriz used for?

Embriz is used for the treatment of stomach and intestinal ulcers (gastric and duodenal ulcers), reflux esophagitis or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It works by reducing the amount of acid made by your stomach and thus relieves your symptoms. Embriz also prevents acidity associated with use of painkillers and stress ulcers in critically ill people. It is also used to treat a disease associated with excessive acid production in the stomach known as Zollinger Ellison syndrome (ZES). Embriz is also helpful as a preanesthetic medication (medicine given just before anesthesia) to reduce the chances of aspiration related complications like lung injury.

Is Embriz safe?

Yes, Embriz is relatively safe. Most of the people who take Embriz do not get a side effect. It is advised to be taken as directed by the doctor for maximum benefits.

What other lifestyle changes should I make to get maximum benefit of Embriz?

You make see better results if you make certain dietary and lifestyle changes while taking Embriz. Exercise regularly and eat healthy. No, do not stop taking Rekool before completing the full course of treatment. You will start to feel better before your treatment is complete. Embriz is given into a vein, only if oral administration is not possible, for upto 7 days. As soon as the person is able to take it orally, intravenous administration is stopped and oral form is prescribed. Take Embriz only as prescribed by your doctor to get maximum benefit.

Does Embriz cause bone problems?

Yes, long term use of Embriz can cause thinning of bones, which is called osteoporosis. Embriz decreases the calcium absorption leading to calcium deficiency, and increases the risk of bone fractures of hip, wrist or spine. Take an adequate amount of calcium in your diet or take the supplements as advised by your doctor to avoid any bone problems.

Can I take alcohol with Embriz?

No, alcohol intake is not advised with Embriz. Alcohol itself does not affect the working of Embriz, but it can increase the acid production. This may further cause worsening of your symptoms.
