This formulation has been prepared from the combination of four medicines: Dextromethorphan hydrobromide and Chlorpheniramine maleate which relieve dry cough. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide is a cough suppressant that provides relief from cough by reducing the activity of the cough center of the brain. Chlorpheniramine maleate inhibits histamine, which relieves allergy symptoms such as sneezing and itching. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that stops the body from making histamine during an allergic reaction. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant that makes breathing easier by treating swelling and congestion by contracting the blood vessels present in the nasal passages.
A dry cough occurs without producing any mucus or phlegm. It is primarily caused by irritation or inflammation in the throat and airways, such as from allergies, smoke, or a viral infection like the common cold.
No, taking a higher than the recommended dose may not be more effective, rather it may increase the chances of having some serious side effects and toxicity. Yes, Cof Q D Syrup may make you feel drowsy or may cause you to fall asleep during your daily activities. Avoid driving a car, operating machinery, working at heights or participating in potentially dangerous activities at the beginning of your treatment until you know how the medicine affects you. Inform your doctor if you experience such episodes while taking this medicine.
Keep this medicine in the container or the pack it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.
No, it is not advisable to breastfeed while using Cof Q D Syrup. This medicine contains Chlorpheniramine, an antihistamine, which can pass into the breast milk and may harm the baby. Inform your doctor that you are breastfeeding if you are advised to take this medicine.
