A specific strain of VSL, Bifidobacterium bifidum, is probably safe when taken by mouth for 6 weeks during pregnancy. However, there is not enough reliable information of taking other strains of VSL during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid other strains of VSL during pregnancy.
