Introduction to Volibris Tablet

This medication may be taken with or without food and It is better to take it in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. How Volibris Tablet works

Volibris Tablet is an endothelin receptor blocker. It blocks the action of endothelin (a natural substance) that causes blood vessels to narrow (constrict). This narrowing increases the pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs. Volibris Tablet helps relax these blood vessels and increases the supply of blood to the lungs.

How To Use Volibris Tablet

  • Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Volibris Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Additionally, during treatment with Volibris you should use two reliable methods of contraception to ensure that you do not get pregnant.

Can I stop taking Volibris on my own?

No, you should not stop taking Volibris without consulting your doctor as this may worsen your condition. Talk to your doctor if you need to stop it.

Why have I been prescribed Volibris?

Volibris is used to treat pulmonary hypertension in adults. Pulmonary hypertension is a condition wherein there is increased blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries (blood vessels that carry blood from heart to lungs). Volibris lowers the blood pressure by relaxing the pulmonary arteries, making it easier for the heart to pump blood through them.

How should Volibris be taken?

Usually, the doctors advise to take one dose of Volibris. You can take it with or without food at any time of the day but prefer taking it at the same time each day. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew or break it into pieces.

What are the serious side effects of Volibris?

The serious side effects of Volibris are swelling all over the body (fluid retention), decreased sperm count and low red blood cell count (anemia). Tell your doctor if you have any unusual weight gain, tiredness, or trouble breathing.

Can Volibris cause liver problems?

Yes, Volibris commonly causes an increase in liver enzymes. It may rarely cause liver injury and inflammation of the liver because of the body’s own defences (autoimmune hepatitis). Consult your doctor if you have nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dark-colored urine and yellowing of the skin.

What are the symptoms of overdose of Volibris?

Taking more than the recommended dose of Volibris may cause headache, flushing, dizziness, or nausea. It may cause low blood pressure which may further lead to lightheadedness. Contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical services in a nearby hospital if you take more than the recommended doses of this medicine.
