Introduction to V Safe Tablet VT

V Safe Tablet VT is for external use only. You should use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It is best to use it at night time for better results.  The affected area should be clean before using the medicine. You must wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying this medicine. Do not stop using it until you have finished the complete course, even when you feel better. You must consult with your doctor if you do not observe any improvement within 3 days of treatment.

Some of the common side effects include vaginal burning sensation and irritation. If the side effects bother you or do not go away, let your doctor know.

It is not likely that other medicines you take by mouth or injection will affect the way it works but talk to your doctor before using it if you have used a similar medicine before and had an allergic reaction. This medicine should only be used if it is clearly needed during pregnancy.

V Safe Tablet VT is an antifungal medication which treats vaginal infections. It works by killing the fungi inside the vaginal tract by destroying their cell membrane. This reduces burning, itching, and discharge that may occur in with these infections.

How To Use V Safe Tablet VT

  • Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Wash and dry your vaginal area. Lie on your back and gently insert the tablet into the vagina as mentioned in the label. It is best to use it just before bedtime.

How should V Safe be applied?

You should wash your hands properly before using V Safe. V Safe comes along with an applicator. Fill the applicator with the cream and insert it into the vagina. Release the medicine into the vagina and remove the applicator. Use it every day before going to bed for 7 days. Wash the applicator after each use.

What is thrush? How does V Safe help?

Thrush is a very common infection which is caused by overgrowth of a yeast called Candida albicans. It causes itching and burning around the entrance of vagina. In case of thrush, one may experience thick, heavier than usual discharge, appearing like cottage cheese. V Safe is an antifungal cream. It is used to kill the fungus or prevent the growth of fungus at the site of infection.

Will the use of V Safe affect my sex life?

V Safe has no effect on the sex drive or desire. However, it is advised to avoid vaginal intercourse as long as you are using V Safe. This is because V Safe will not be able to prevent the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases. Also, the medicine may damage the condoms and diaphragms and hence you may need other forms of contraception.

What should I do if the infection comes back?

V Safe can be used again if the candidal infection returns after 7 days. However, if the candidal infection recurs more than twice within six months, you should consult your doctor whether it is candidal infection or something else.

I had been taking tacrolimus and now I have been prescribed V Safe vaginal cream. Can I use them together?

Yes, you can use V Safe and tacrolimus together. However, you may have to keep a watch on the side effects of tacrolimus. Though it happens rarely, the risk of side effects may increase due to increase in levels of tacrolimus because of V Safe. But if it happens, talk to your doctor who will modify the dose of tacrolimus.

What precautions are necessary while using V Safe?

V Safe should not be used during menstruation as the cream will get washed off with blood flow. Track the menstrual cycle and make sure that the treatment is completed before the onset of menstruation. Do not use tampons, vaginal douches (washing the vagina with water or other fluids), spermicide (a contraceptive substance that destroys sperm) or other vaginal products while using V Safe.
