  • As the name suggests, it should be taken as soon as possible, preferably within 72 hours of unprotected sex.
  • If the ovary has already released the egg, the tablet functions by interfering with the fertilization process, preventing the egg from being fertilized by the sperm. In case fertilization has already occurred, it prevents the pregnancy by hindering the implantation (attachment) process in the uterus. 
  • It is a single-dose formulation wherein one single dose is used as emergency contraception. It is better to take the pill as soon as possible, as time passes by, it reduces the effectiveness of the pill.
