Codistar Syrup is a combination medicine used in the treatment of dry cough. It relieves allergy symptoms such as runny nose, stuffy nose, throat irritation, sneezing, watery eyes and congestion or stuffiness.
Codistar Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
Never support self-medication or recommend your medicine to another person. Keep it out of reach of children. It is beneficial to have plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.
Codistar Syrup may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Codistar Syrup may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Codistar Syrup is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. Larger doses or prolonged use of Codistar Syrup may cause sleepiness and other effects in the baby
Codistar Syrup may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive. As Codistar Syrup may cause dizziness, blurred vision or the inability to think clearly.
Codistar Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Codistar Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor. Use of Codistar Syrup may cause excessive sleepiness in patients with end stage kidney disease.
Codistar Syrup should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Codistar Syrup may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Chlorpheniramine Maleate: Blocks histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms. Codeine Phosphate: Reduces cough reflex in the brain, providing relief from coughing.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Cough and Cold: Codistar helps manage symptoms of respiratory tract infections, allergies, or the common cold.
