This medicine is effective in treating low sodium levels in the blood. These sodium levels in the blood can lead to liver cirrhosis, heart failure, and the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone.
The drug should be used cautiously by the liver patients; dose adjustment may be required.
It is considered to be safe to use the drug by the kidney patients.
Be cautious while consuming alcohol if you are taking the treatment.
It may disturb the alertness and may make you feel sleepy and dizzy.
It is unsafe to use this drug during pregnancy; it may impact the developing baby.
It is unsafe to use the drug by the mother breastfed an infant, some evidences show it may pass through breast milk.
It is a vasopressin antagonist; it blocks the effect of vasopressin hormone in the body. By increasing urine production, it increases the frequency of urination, which reduces the amount of water in the blood and increases the sodium level in the blood.
Low sodium levels in the blood also known as hyponatremia, cause headache, nausea, seizures, confusion, and can be life-threatening if untreated.
