Introduction to Tidomet CR Tablet

Tidomet CR Tablet can be taken without food but it is better to avoid high protein diet and dairy products while taking this medicine. However, it is advised to take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. You should never skip any doses and try to finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not stop taking medicine until told by your doctor as it can cause harmful effects.

This medicine may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, dryness in mouth, constipation, and headache. Initially, this medicine may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure when you change positions, so its better to rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. How Tidomet CR Tablet works

Tidomet CR Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Levodopa and Carbidopa which treats Parkinsonism. Levodopa is a dopamine precursor which gets converted to dopamine, a chemical messenger that controls movement in the brain. Carbidopa is a peripheral decarboxylase inhibitor which prevents breakdown of levodopa allowing it to enter the brain and increase dopamine levels.

  • Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Tidomet CR Tablet is to be taken empty stomach. Avoid Tidomet CR Tablet with high protein meals such as cottage cheese, Swiss cheese, protein powder, eggs and milk.

No, taking a higher than the recommended dose of Tidomet can lead to increased chances of side effects and toxicity. Talk to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after a few weeks of treatment. Also let your doctor know if the effects of this medication seem to wear off quickly in between doses.

How long does Tidomet take to cure Parkinson’s disease?

Tidomet controls Parkinsons disease but does not cure it. It may take several months before you feel the full benefit of Tidomet.
