S-Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes the blood vessels in high blood pressure conditions to reduce blood pressure significantly and thus improves blood flow throughout the body. Due to better circulation, the heart muscles relax and the load on the heart is reduced. This improved body circulation prevents heart-related diseases like angina, stroke, and heart attack.
Angina is chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart due to constricted blood vessels. It usually happens during physical activity or stress and goes away with rest. A heart attack happens when there is reduced oxygen supply to the heart due to decrease in blood flow which is caused by blockage of blood vessels, ultimately leading to heart muscle damage. Symptoms include chest pain, shortness of breath, and dizziness. A stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted, either by a clot or damaged blood vessel, leading to brain damage.
