It belongs to the class of drugs called anti-cancer agents. It works by slowing or preventing the growth of cancer cells in the body.
It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps to stop or slow the spread of cancer cells.
It is to be taken with food and in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on that day. Do not take two doses of this drug on the same day to make up for a missed dose from the previous day.
Tell your doctor if you have liver, bleeding or heart problems or severe bowel problems (a tear developing in the stomach or a bowel)
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with this drug. Please consult your doctor.
This drug is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
This drug is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
It is not known whether this drug alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
This drug is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustments is recommended. However, limited information is available on use of this drug in patients with severe kidney disease.
This drug should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Regular monitoring of liver function tests is advised while you are taking this medicine. Use of this drug is not recommended in patients with the severe liver disease.
