In its latest communication, the USFDA requested manufacturers to withdraw all prescription and over-the-counter versions of Ranitidine. The move followed ongoing investigation into the contaminant known as N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), a probable human carcinogen or cancer causing substance, the USFDA said.
Rantac-Dom Tablet is a prescription medicine. It is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (Acid reflux) and peptic ulcer disease. It relieves heartburn, stomach pain or irritation, and indigestion. It promotes the movement of food in the stomach to prevent nausea or vomiting.

Rantac and Omeprazole belong to different group of medicines. While Rantac belongs to histamine H2 antagonists group, Omeprazole belongs to proton pump inhibitors group. These medicines (Rantac and Omeprazole) work by reducing the amount of acid made by the stomach, to give relief of symptoms and allow healing to take place.
Alcohol does not interfere with the working of Rantac. But, you should avoid taking alcohol as it may further damage the stomach, delaying your recovery.
