This formulation has been designed for the treatment of dry cough
It gives relief from coughing by suppressing the cough centre present in the brain
It widens the airways by narrowing the small blood vessels present in the nose and provides relief from nasal congestion and stuffiness
This formulation has been prepared from the combination of three medicines: Dextromethorphan, Phenylephrine and Chlorpheniramine which relieve dry cough. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that provides relief from cough by reducing the activity of the cough centre of the brain. Chlorpheniramine inhibits histamine, which relieves allergy symptoms such as sneezing and itching. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that stops the body from making histamine during an allergic reaction. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant that makes breathing easier by treating swelling and congestion by contracting the blood vessels present in the nasal passages.
A dry cough occurs without producing any mucus or phlegm. It is primarily caused by irritation or inflammation in the throat and airways, such as from allergies, smoke, or a viral infection like the common cold.
