Pentasa 1gm Enema helps to reduce symptoms such as diarrhea, bleeding and stomach pain by reducing inflammation in the bowel. It is taken by the back passage (rectal route) and should not be taken orally. It must be given under the supervision of a doctor or healthcare professional only. You must have to stay in a lying position for at least 15 minutes after the insertion of suppositories. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for but take it exactly as your doctor prescribes. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Pentasa 1gm Enema is an aminosalicylate. It works directly on the site of inflammation (swelling) in the lower parts of large intestine (colon and rectum) to provide rapid relief from attacks of ulcerative colitis.
