Alicort 12mg Tablet is a corticosteroid used to treat a wide range of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. It contains Deflazacort, which helps in reducing inflammation, managing symptoms of chronic conditions such as asthma, arthritis, and allergic reactions, and preventing the immune system from attacking healthy tissues.
Use Alicort cautiously if you have liver disease. Regular monitoring of liver function may be necessary, and dose adjustments may be required.
Patients with kidney issues may need close monitoring while using Alicort, as corticosteroids can cause water retention, increasing the strain on the kidneys.
Limit alcohol consumption while taking Alicort, as alcohol can increase the risk of stomach bleeding and worsen certain side effects like dizziness or mood changes.
Alicort may cause dizziness or mood swings in some patients. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if you experience these symptoms until you know how the medication affects you.
Alicort should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare provider, as corticosteroids may have adverse effects on the developing baby.
Alicort may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor before using it while breastfeeding, as it may affect the infant.
Deflazacort, the active ingredient in Alicort, is a corticosteroid that works by mimicking the effects of natural cortisol in the body. It reduces inflammation by suppressing the release of substances in the immune system that cause inflammation. This results in relief from symptoms like swelling, pain, and allergic reactions. It also helps prevent damage to tissues from autoimmune attacks.
Inflammation is the body’s immune response to injury, infection, or harmful stimuli. It typically presents with redness, swelling, heat, and pain. While short-term inflammation helps in healing, chronic inflammation can damage healthy tissue and lead to diseases like arthritis, asthma, or inflammatory bowel disease.
