Introduction to Novex DS Tablet

In higher doses, Novex DS Tablet is also used to control abnormal vaginal bleeding in women who have not attained menopause (end of the monthly menstrual period). It should be taken with or without food and is convenient to use, as required only one tablet in a week. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor is the right person to decide the exact dose, hence follow your doctors advice.

It is a non hormonal medicine with very minimal side effects but in some cases it may cause an irregular menstrual cycle. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. It is usually advised to use a condom for the first 8 weeks of the treatment. It is safe for breastfeeding mothers also.

Before taking this medicine let your doctor know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works.

How Novex DS Tablet works

Novex DS Tablet is a birth control pill. It acts by preventing the implantation of the fertilized ovum to the womb (uterus).

How To Use Novex DS Tablet

  • Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Novex DS Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

This medicine does not cause anomalies in the fetus and the baby has normal growth and development. However, stop taking this medicine as soon as you get to know about your pregnancy.

I am breastfeeding my baby. Is Novex safe for me?

Yes, Novex is safe for breastfeeding mothers as it is a non-hormonal and non-steroidal medicine.

What if I miss my pill?

Take the missed pill as soon as you remember. If the pill is missed by 1 or more days but less than 7 days, follow the regular schedule and use an alternate method (e.g. condoms) till the next period. If the pill is missed by more than 7 days, restart the schedule like a new user.

How and in what dose should I take Novex?

You should take Novex, as advised by your doctor. However, for contraception, you are required to take two tablets a week for the first 12 weeks ( for e.g. on Sunday and Wednesday), and then one tablet a week. It is also advisable to use condom, in addition to taking Novex, for the period of the first 8 weeks of use.
