Levofloxacin is an antibiotic which kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and repairing themselves. Ambroxol is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Addition of ambroxol enhances the antibacterial effect of levofloxacin.
