Dont be concerned if MOVICOL^® does not work immediately. MOVICOL^® usually takes 1 to 2 days to trigger the first bowel movement.

A dose of 8 sachets a day of Movicol is needed for the treatment of faecal impaction. Each sachet dissolved in 125ml (1/4 pint) of water. The 8 sachets should be taken within 6 hours for up to 3 days if required. If you have a heart condition, do not take more than 2 sachets in any one hour.

What is MOVICOL Liquid used for? This medicine helps you to have a comfortable bowel movement even if you have been constipated for a long time. It also works in faecal impaction (as diagnosed by your doctor). MOVICOL Liquid is for use in adults and children 12 years of age or over.

Like all medicines, Movicol Lemon-Lime can have side effects. Sometimes people have indigestion, stomach ache or rumbles. You may also feel bloated, suffer from wind, feel sick or vomit, may also experience soreness of the anus (bottom) and may have mild diarrhoea when starting to take Movicol Lemon-Lime.

Movicol is one of a group of drugs called osmotic laxatives. These drugs attract and retain water in your stools, making them softer and easier to pass, thus reducing constipation. Movicol is indicated for the treatment of chronic constipation and also works in very bad constipation (called faecal impaction).

MOVICOL^® has a natural mode of action that works gently, in harmony with your body. acts locally in the colon to relieve constipation: The water retained by MOVICOL^® softens the stool and bulks it up slightly. As the stool gently expands, it naturally triggers colonic activity and a bowel movement.

The most common side effects are stomach pain, diarrhoea, wind and a sore bottom (anus). These are usually mild and shortlived. Most macrogol sachets contain sodium chloride, potassium chloride and sodium bicarbonate (known as electrolytes).

Side effects You may have diarrhoea especially when starting to take Movicol. If you feel weak, breathless, very thirsty with a headache, or get puffy ankles stop taking Movicol and tell your doctor. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you think Movicol is causing you any problem.

It works by increasing the amount of water and stool bulk in the bowel, promoting normal bowel activity. DUPHALAC can also be used to treat portal-systemic encephalopathy (PSE), also known as hepatic encephalopathy (a disease of the brain that occurs when the liver is not working properly.

The use of Movicol may help avoid future secondary care activity because it delivers more successful treatment in primary care. It is possible that because of Movicols better efficacy, relative to lactulose, that patients may need less of this particular laxative.

You should always follow your doctors instructions. After mixing, MOVICOL^® can be stored for 24 hours in the fridge for later consumption. You can take MOVICOL^® at any time of day that is convenient.

Movicol ready-to-take sachets ️ To treat constipation you can take two sachets up to three times a day, depending on how bad your constipation is. ️ You should drink the medicine straight from the sachet - there is no need to dilute it. However, you should make sure you are drinking plenty of fluid throughout the day.

MOVICOL^® can be used by patients with renal insufficiency with no need to adjust the dose. The MOVICOL^® range contains no sucrose (sugar). (Some varieties contain acesulfame potassium and/or sucralose, which are sweeteners not known to affect blood sugar).

Dont worry – soft stools mean MOVICOL has started to work. However, if the poo becomes very runny or diarrhoea (see Stool Type 7 on the chart in this leaflet), you should stop taking your medicine until the runny poo stops. Then start again using fewer sachets.

This medicine can be taken at any time with or without food. Dissolve the content of each sachet in 125ml (1/4 pint) of water and drink. Constipation: A dose of Movicol is 1 sachet dissolved in 125 ml (1/4 pint) of water.

This medicine can be taken at any time with or without food. This product must be diluted before use. A dose of Movicol Liquid Orange flavour is 25 ml liquid diluted in 100 ml of water. Take this 1–3 times a day according to the severity of your constipation.
