It is pharmaceutically formulated by combining three medicines: Terbutaline, Guaifenesin, and Ambroxol. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator that makes breathing easier by opening the air passages widely. Ambroxol is a mucolytic that thins the mucus in the windpipe, lungs, and nose, making it easier to eliminate. Guaifenesin is an expectorant, it reduces the stickiness of mucus and makes its passage through the airway easier. The combination relieves cough with mucus.
Cough with mucus occurs due to COPD, respiratory infections, or chronic bronchitis. Mucus productions helps to claer out pathogens, irritants, and debris from the respiratory tract and expulsion of that mucus remove out that particular pathogen or irritant from the body.
