Lymphatic filariasis is a parasitic disease caused by three species of microscopic, thread-like worms. The adult worms only live in the human lymph system. The lymph system maintains the bodys fluid balance and fights infections.

Diethylcarbamazine should be taken immediately after meals. To help clear up your infection completely, keep taking this medicine for the full time of treatment, even if your symptoms begin to clear up after a few days.

Hetrazan is used to treat parasitic worm infection and filariasis (elephantiasis), a disfiguring disease in which swelling of arms, legs or other body parts may occur. It is used to treat Bancrofts filariasis, eosinophilic lung, loiasis and river blindness (onchocerciasis).

Filariasis is an infectious tropical disease caused by any one of several thread-like parasitic round worms. The two species of worms most often associated with this disease are Wuchereria bancrofti and Brugia malayi. The larval form of the parasite transmits the disease to humans by the bite of a mosquito.

Hetrazan belongs to a class of medicines known as anti-helminthics. It works by killing both the larval and adult forms of the parasitic worms that cause filariasis.

Diethylcarbamazine is used to treat certain parasitic diseases caused by infection with roundworms of the Filarioidea type, including lymphatic filariasis caused by infection with Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia malayi, or Brugia timori; tropical pulmonary eosinophilia; and loiasis.

Banocide Forte Tablet should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It should be taken with food, preferably at a fixed time. Avoid skipping any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

How to use Albendazole. Take this medication by mouth with meals as directed by your doctor, usually 1 to 2 times daily. If you or your child have trouble swallowing tablets, you may crush or chew your dose and take it with water.

The diethylcarbamazine (DEC) provocative day test has been widely used for daytime diagnosis of Wuchereria bancrofti infections in areas where microfilariae exhibit nocturnal periodicity.

Fortifying salt with diethylcarbamazine (DEC) is a safe, low-cost and effective strategy to eliminate transmission of lymphatic filariasis. DEC-fortified salt has been used successfully in pilot projects in several countries and has been used operationally by China to eliminate lymphatic filariasis.

Hetrazan is not an antibiotic. Hetrazan belongs to a class of medicines known as anthelminthic agents.
