Herpes zoster (shingles): This is a virus that causes red skin rashes, discomfort, and a burning feeling in the affected area. Before generating herpes, the virus remains in the nervous system for years. It can show up on one side of the body, the neck, the torso, and the face. Chicken pox is a highly contagious viral infection. Rash, tiny, stinging blisters, fever, sore throat, and bodily ache are typical symptoms.
Before using Herpex 5% Cream, clean and dry the affected area. Gently and thoroughly massage it into the skin. Be careful not to get the medication in your eyes or mouth. If Herpex 5% Cream gets in your eyes accidentally, wash with plenty of water and call your doctor if your eyes are irritated.
Cold sores heal on their own in seven to 10 days. However, antiviral medications can modestly shorten the healing period. One-day treatment with the prescription antiviral drugs famciclovir (Famvir) or valacyclovir (Valtrex) shortens cold sore symptoms by one to two days.
If you forget to use Herpex 5% Cream, do not worry and continue using Herpex 5% Cream as soon as you remember. However, if you are not sure and have any other doubts, please consult your doctor.
Herpex 5% Cream is safe if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Use it exactly as directed and do not skip any dose. Follow your doctors instructions carefully and let your doctor know if any of the side effects bother you.
Acyclovir topical cream is usually applied 5 times daily for 4 days. Acyclovir topical ointment is usually applied 6 times daily for 7 days. Follow your doctors dosing instructions very carefully. Use this medicine for the full prescribed length of time, even if your symptoms quickly improve.
Antiviral treatment should be started as soon as possible, as it is most effective when started within 72 hours after the shingles rash appears. After this time, antiviral medications may still be helpful if new blisters are appearing.
Herpex 5% Cream is effective if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even if you see improvement in your condition. If you stop using Herpex 5% Cream too early, the symptoms may return or worsen.
This medication is used to treat "cold sores/fever blisters" (herpes labialis). It can speed up healing of the sores and decrease symptoms (such as tingling, pain, burning, itching). Acyclovir belongs to a class of medications known as antivirals. It works by stopping the growth of the virus.
May take up to two hours to reach peak plasma concentrations after oral acyclovir administration. May take up to three days for symptom reduction; however, acyclovir should be taken until the course prescribed is completed. Acyclovir works best when started within 48 hours of symptom onset.
Be careful not to get Herpex 5% Cream into your eyes or mouth. If you happen to get it in your eyes, rinse off with plenty of water immediately and contact your doctor. You must not use Herpex 5% Cream if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients. Tell your doctor if you notice any allergic reaction while using it for the first time. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medicines regularly, to prevent any allergic reaction with other medicines. Do not cover the area being treated with Herpex 5% Cream with a bandage, as this may increase absorption of this medicine and increase the side effects. Do not use more than what is recommended to relieve your symptoms faster. Using more than what is advised will only increase the side effects. Let your doctor know if you are planning to conceive. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should use Herpex 5% Cream only if prescribed by the doctor.
