ACYCLOVIR is a member of a class of antiviral drugs used to treat viral infections, including genital herpes, a common sexually transmitted disease characterized by genital pain and sores, cold sores, an inflamed blister in or near the mouth, and herpes zoster, a viral infection that causes a painful rash.
If alcohol is used simultaneously with ACYCLOVIR, there is no documented adverse effect. However, consuming alcohol while taking ACYCLOVIR may harm your liver. Thus, it is best to avoid drinking alcohol while using ACYCLOVIR.
The effects of ACYCLOVIR on expectant mothers and fetuses are unknown. As a result, using ACYCLOVIR should only be done as directed by a doctor and under close observation.
