How Forecox Kit works

Forecox Kit is a combination of four medicines: Isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide which treat tuberculosis. Isoniazid works by preventing the TB bacteria from forming their own protective covering, while rifampicin inactivates a bacterial enzyme (RNA-polymerase) which is required by TB bacteria to make essential proteins and to reproduce. Together, they kill the bacteria and eradicate the infection. Ethambutol and pyrazinamide on the other hand, work by slowing the growth of these bacteria.

  • Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label before use. Forecox Kit is to be taken empty stomach. Avoid Forecox Kit with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer.

Can I discontinue Forecox if I feel well?

No, do not discontinue Forecox. Take the proper course of a drug that has been prescribed for you even if you begin to feel better. If you stop taking Forecox then your infection may become worse, difficult to treat and it may result in drug-resistant TB (drugs you are taking may no longer work).

How should TB drugs be taken?

Several TB drugs, or TB medication, must always be taken together. If only one TB drug is taken then resistance may develop to the drug. This means that the drug wont work and the patient isnt cured of TB. It is often now that several TB drugs are combined together in one tablet or pill.

What is the best time to take isoniazid?

Take isoniazid on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Use this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics.

Can I drink alcohol while taking Forecox?

No, avoid drinking alcohol while taking Forecox. Drinking alcohol will increase the risk of hepatitis caused by Forecox because of isoniazid.

Contact your doctor if you notice discoloration of urine accompanied with stomach pain, loss of appetite and jaundice (yellowing of your skin or eyes).
