How To Use DRISTAN NASAL SPRAY

  • Shake the bottle gently before use. Tilt your head forward slightly.
  • Insert the nozzle into one nostril while blocking the other.
  • Spray while inhaling gently through the nose.
  • Repeat for the other nostril if necessary.

Is oxymetazoline a steroid/ antihistamine?

Oxymetazoline belongs to a class of medications called adrenergic drugs that are used as nasal decongestants. It is not a steroid or an antihistamine.

Can I take oxymetazoline with Benadryl (diphenhydramine)/ phenylephrine/ pseudoephedrine?

Oxymetazoline should not be taken simultaneously with Benadryl (diphenhydramine)/phenylephrine/pseudoephedrine. Before using any other medicine with Dristan consult your doctor.

Is oxymetazoline safe?

Oxymetazoline is safe, if used at prescribed doses for the prescribed duration as advised by your doctor

Does oxymetazoline cause cataract/keep you awake/ raise blood pressure/insomnia/drowsiness?

No such reports are available that confirm side effects such as cataract, keeping you awake, insomnia or drowsiness during treatment with Dristan. Oxymetazoline can raise blood pressure when taken with drugs like selegiline and moclobemide that are used to treat depression. It can also decrease the effect of drugs used to treat blood pressure. Hence, patients should consult doctors regarding the possible side effects and drug interactions

Is oxymetazoline addictive?

Oxymetazoline treatment does not cause mental addiction. However, patients may get physically addicted such that they feel the compulsion to use oxymetazoline. Hence, it should only be used at prescribed doses for the prescribed duration as advised by your doctor
