What are the benefits of Cabergoline?

What is the benefit of taking cabergoline? The benefit of taking cabergoline is that it can reduce the level of prolactin in your blood and reduce the symptoms you have been experi- encing. It works by increasing a chemical in the brain called dopamine, which reduces the amount of prolactin that is produced.

Can Cabergoline stop your period?

Over-production of this hormone can cause abnormal production of breast milk in both men and women (galactorrhoea). It can also cause womens' menstrual periods to become irregular or stop altogether, and can stop ovulation, resulting in infertility.

What is the best time to take Cabergoline?

Taking cabergoline with a meal will help to reduce the risk of feeling sick (nausea). Try to take cabergoline at the same time(s) of day each day; if you are taking it weekly, take it on the same day of the week each week. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember.

You and your doctor should discuss whether you should continue to take this medicine during pregnancy. This medicine may cause some people to become drowsy, dizzy, or less alert than they are normally.

What can I eat to reduce prolactin?

Nutrition should be taken into account as well. Foods that lower prolactin levels are generally high in zinc; think shellfish, beef, turkey and beans. It's also important to get plenty of B6, so foods like potatoes, bananas, wild salmon, chicken and spinach can help boost those vitamin levels.

How and in what dose should I take CB-Lin?

Take this medicine, as per the advice of your doctor. The advised dose and duration depend on your medical condition. It is recommended to take this medicine with food or after food, to reduce the chances of nausea or vomiting.

Does Cabergoline make you fertile?

It can also be administered vaginally. Cabergoline is taken as one to two tablets twice each week. Of the women treated, approximately 85% will ovulate and can become pregnant if no other causes of infertility are present. Bromocriptine and cabergoline treatments are usually discontinued during pregnancy.

What is Cabergoline 0.5 mg used for?

Cabergoline is used to treat hyperprolactinemia (high levels of prolactin, a natural substance that helps breast-feeding women produce milk but can cause symptoms such as infertility, sexual problems, and bone loss in women who are not breast-feeding or men).

How quickly does Cabergoline work?

The effect is prompt (within 3 hours from administration) and persistent (up to 7-28 days in healthy volunteers and hyperprolactinaemic patients, and up to 14-21 days in puerperal women). The Prolactin-lowering effect is dose related both in terms of degree of effect and duration of action.
