It is a combination of two antiseptic medicines: Chlorhexidine Gluconate and Silver Nitrate. Chlorhexidine Gluconate works by binding strongly with skin and killing infectious microorganisms. Hence, it effectively cleans out wounds and burns to prevent them from getting infected. Silver Nitrate stops bacteria from producing folic acid, a nutrient required for bacterial multiplication. This kills the bacteria and treats skin infections due to burns.
Getting a burn or wound damages your skin, leaving it open to bacteria. When these bacteria enter the wound and multiply, they cause redness, swelling, pain, and sometimes pus, indicating an infection. This can slow down healing and worsens the condition if not treated.
