Azithral Eye Ointment belongs to a group of medicines known as Macrolide antibiotics.
It is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the eyes.
Bacterial infection is a condition in which bacteria grows in the body and cause infection. It can target any body part and multiple very quickly. The medicine slows the growth or sometimes kill the harmful bacteria by preventing production of proteins required by the bacteria for its survival.
Azithral Eye Ointment should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor.
The side effects should recede on their own within a few days, if persist then consult your doctor. Contact lenses should not be worn while you are using this medicine or while you have a bacterial eye infection.

Azithral Eye Ointment is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby however, there are limited human studies.
Azithral Eye Ointment is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.<BR>It should be wiped off thoroughly prior to nursing if it is being applied to the breast or nipple area.
It is not known whether Azithral Eye Ointment alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
