Akurit 4 Tablet belongs to group of medicine (Isoniazid, Rifampicin, Ethambutol and Pyrazinamide) used in the treatment of tuberculosis.

It is advised in treatment of adults and children weighing more then 20kgs.
Tuberculosis is caused by microrganism called Microbacteria Tuberculosis. It generally affects your lungs but can also spread to other parts of body like brain and spine.
People with weaker immunity or suffering with HIV/AIDS are at higher risk of getting Tuberculosis because their bodies have a harder time fighting the bacteria.

Akurit 4 Tablet is a unique combination of four essential medicines: Isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol, and pyrazinamide, specifically designed to treat tuberculosis. What If I Missed A Dose Of Akurit 4 Tablet 10s

Skipping or missing dose can make your tuberculosis drug resistant which means your medicine can no longer kill the germs in your body.
Drug resistant TB is hard to treat and can take up to 2years to cure so be punctual in your medication.

No, avoid drinking alcohol while taking Akurit 4. Drinking alcohol will increase the risk of hepatitis caused by Akurit 4 because of isoniazid.

Can I discontinue Akurit 4 if I feel well?

No, do not discontinue Akurit 4. Take the proper course of a drug that has been prescribed for you even if you begin to feel better. If you stop taking Akurit 4 then your infection may become worse, difficult to treat and it may result in drug-resistant TB (drugs you are taking may no longer work).

How to take Akurit 4?

Take Akurit 4 on an empty stomach which means at least one hour before and two hours after a meal and with full glass of water.

Can Akurit 4 cause visual impairment?

Akurit 4 contains Ethambutol which may cause visual impairment. Inform the doctor immediately if you notice any changes in your eyesight.

Can the use of Akurit 4 cause discoloration of the urine?

Yes, Akurit 4 contains Rifampicin. It can cause temporary discoloration of your teeth, sweat, urine, saliva and tears (red, orange or brown color). This side effect is usually not harmful. However, discoloration of urine can be a sign of liver damage. Contact your doctor if you notice discoloration of urine accompanied with stomach pain, loss of appetite and jaundice (yellowing of your skin or eyes).
