Rifampicin acts by inhibiting the action of RNA-polymerase; an important enzyme that helps bacteria with TB to synthesize essential proteins, and perform reproduction. Isoniazids interfere with their function and prevent these bacteria from making their own protective layer. Collectively, they eliminate the bacteria and remove the infection. Conversely, Ethambutol functions by inhibiting the proliferation of these bacteria.
