Zostum 1000/500 mg Injection is a combination antibiotic used to treat severe bacterial infections in the lungs, urinary tract, abdomen, skin, soft tissues, and bloodstream. It contains Cefoperazone (1000mg) and Sulbactam (500mg), making it effective against resistant bacterial infections. This injection is administered intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM) under medical supervision.
Ingesting alcohol with medicine may induce a Disulfiram reaction, causing symptoms like flushing, increased heart rate, nausea, and low blood pressure.

Cefoperazone disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Sulbactam prevents bacteria from breaking down Cefoperazone, making it more effective. Together, they provide broad-spectrum coverage against severe infections.
Severe Bacterial Infections – Life-threatening infections requiring hospitalization and IV antibiotics, affecting the lungs, urinary tract, skin, or bloodstream. Pneumonia – A bacterial lung infection causing fever, cough, and breathing difficulty. Septicemia (Blood Infection) – A serious bloodstream infection that can lead to septic shock if untreated. Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) – Severe bacterial infections of the kidney or bladder causing fever and pain.
