Introduction to Prilox 30gm Cream

Prilox Cream combines two local anesthetic drugs that show a numbing effect on the affected area. It can be applied on normal or unbroken skin, but before using any procedure, such as inserting a needle or suturing the wound, so that there is no pain.

How Prilox 30gm Cream works

Prilox Cream is a combined preparation of Prilocaine and Lidocaine. It exerts its action by blocking pain signals that are transmitted from the affected area to the brain. Its blockage reduces the pain sensations.

How To Use Prilox 30gm Cream

  • This medicine has been prepared for external use.
  • Strictly follow the doctor's recommended dose and duration.
  • Clean and dry the affected area and apply the gel.
  • Apply a thin layer of lotion to the affected area and rub it gently.
  • After application; protect the area by applying an occlusive dressing.
  • Keep the dressign intact at least for 2 hourse prior strating of surgery or any other treatment.
  • Avoid contact with nose, eyes, and mouth; if accidentally get into it rinse the area immediately with plenty of water.

Can Prilox be used on open wounds?

No, Prilox must used on unbroken skin and the genital area. Do not apply to open wounds or broken skin unless directed by your doctor.

How do you use Prilox?

Prilox should be applied to the skin for at least 1 hour before the start of a routine procedure (needle insertion). Maintain a gap of at least 2 hours before the start of a painful procedure (minor surgical procedure). Apply pressure bandage on the top to give an even distribution of cream and protect the area. When applied to the genital mucosa, a thick layer of Prilox is applied to the skin surface for 15 minutes, before giving local anesthetic injection. Your doctor will advise the exact duration to apply the cream.

How long does Prilox last for?

The effect of numbness after application of Prilox is expected to be upto 3 hours under pressure dressing and may persist for 1 to 2 hours after removal of the cream.

What is Prilox used for?

Prilox is a combination of two local anesthetics, prilocaine and lidocaine. It is used to numb the surface of the intact skin before needle insertion or minor superficial surgical procedures. In addition, when applied to genital mucosa (inner membrane of private parts) it provides numbness, thereby preventing any pain while instilling the injection.
