The main four active ingredients of this drug are Ammonium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, Diphenhydramine, and Menthol. Ammonium chloride is an expectorant that clears cough by thinning the mucus present in the airway and makes respiration easier. Sodium citrate breaks down mucus and facilitates its removal from the respiratory tract. Diphenhydramine relieves allergic symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and runny nose by blocking histamine receptors. Menthol has a soothing effect on the throat by providing a cooling sensation which provides relief from coughing by reducing irritation.
