Acenocoumarol, the active component of Acitrom 2 mg Tablet, functions by inhibiting the enzyme vitamin K reductase. This inhibition leads to a decrease in the active form of vitamin K, which is essential for the synthesis of clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X. By reducing the levels of these clotting factors, Acitrom effectively slows down the blood clotting process, thereby preventing the formation of harmful clots.
Acitrom 2 mg Tablet is primarily used for conditions related to blood clotting disorders, such as: Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): A condition where blood clots form in deep veins, usually in the legs, leading to pain and swelling. If untreated, it can cause pulmonary embolism. Pulmonary Embolism (PE): Occurs when a blood clot travels to the lungs, potentially causing severe complications like respiratory distress. Atrial Fibrillation (AFib): An irregular heartbeat that increases the risk of stroke due to clot formation in the heart. Heart Valve Replacement: Patients with artificial heart valves need anticoagulation therapy to prevent clot formation.
Acitrom 2 mg Tablet is an anticoagulant used to prevent and treat blood clot-related disorders. By inhibiting vitamin K-dependent clotting factors, it reduces the risk of life-threatening conditions like stroke, DVT, and pulmonary embolism. Regular INR monitoring and dietary consistency are crucial for optimal therapy.
